Clean Energy Workforce

The Greater Washington Green Jobs Corps is a green job training program with a focus on providing trainees with barriers to employment the skills, confidence and assurance that upon graduation they are qualified to enter the green labor market and compete with others for employment in the green sector.

Through professional instruction and interaction with industry practitioners, we trust our graduates will develop into well-rounded, mature persons ready to make a contribution to family and community.

The Greater Washington Green Jobs Corps targets training efforts in the following Greater Washington counties:

Virginia: Arlington County, Fairfax County, Alexandria City, Loudon County, Prince William County, Stafford County

Maryland:
Prince George’s County, Charles County, Anne Arundel County, Howard County, Montgomery County, Frederick County

District of Columbia



Quick Facts

  • Instructors: At least 12 years in the construction industries. 

  • Trainee to teacher ratio is 1:12.

  • Clean Energy Consultants Track is a 60 hour course that includes trains students to perform energy audits and weatherize residential and commercial properties.

Graduates who complete the clean energy consultant tract will be eligible for entry level jobs in residential, commercial and industrial sectors which require applicants with their skill-sets.  The Greater Washington Green Jobs Corps places a premium on job placement. Our objective is to work with all graduates seeking employment through our career placement efforts.

Life Skills and Career Readiness

The Greater Washington Green Jobs Corps works with all trainees to assist them with job placement.  This process begins with an evaluation and counseling session at the beginning of each term to identify areas the trainee needs to improve prior to seeking employment.  This process of life-skills preparation will be combined with the employment skills the trainees can expect to receive from classroom training.
