Strengthening the Community
Civic Engagement is defined as individual and collective action designed to identify and address issues of public concern.
Community groups should not exist in isolation and there is a huge resource of information to be shared, whether its new green job opportunities, environmental and social challenges, or sharing progressive ideas and inspiration. Green DMV is in a great position to help bring communities together around a common goal to strengthen the local economy, create new employment opportunities and help preserve the environment.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to ensure that relevant information pertaining to environmental challenges and opportunities of the green economy is accessible and readily available. This will enable community groups to quickly answer problems with constructive solutions based on the experience of others.
Our Objectives
1. To develop strong partnerships with community stakeholders to address social, economic and environment challenges.
2. To facilitate communication and sharing of information between organizations involved in green spaces and the communities they serve.
3. To strengthen relationships between small and disadvantaged business owners and green builders and suppliers.
4. To ensure that environmental public policy is beneficial to all people.
5. To actively build a contiguous community database of individuals and organizations working in the environmental sector. |
