Green DMV provides educational and consultative services to low-income communities in the Greater Washington metropolitan area. These sustainability projects are designed to provide solutions to social, economic and environmental challenges in low-income communities.




 


2.3.2010 - GREEN DMV launches the Retro-Rescue Project at Gospel Rescue Ministries, a homeless shelter in Washington, DC's Ward 6. The project aimed to cut energy costs at the shelter as well as expose the residents to green jobs.

11.14.2009 - Green DMV joined 1Sky, Chesapeake Climate Action Network, 350.org and other partners to bring attention Copenhagen talks. As a part of the "Art for Climate" project, Green DMV held a Green Kids! event at Children's Studio School in NW, DC.





9.3.2009 - Green DMV and Carbonfree DC sponsor 20 families from a low-income neighborhood in Washington, DC and green their homes in a project called the Extreme Green Neighborhood Makeover.

 




4.27.2009 - Green DMV hosted the first annual Environmental Awareness Day at Jefferson-Houston School for Arts and Academics in Alexandria City, VA. The event introduced students to the impact that everyday actions have on the environment.






12.13.08 - Green DMV partnered with the National Park Service, DC Department of Public Works, Green Earth Coalition, DC Jobs Coalition, DC elected officials, community leaders and volunteers for 2 days of action to clean up Shepherd Parkway.





07.01.08 - In support of Mayor Adrian Fenty’s Green Collar Jobs Advisory Council's Green Business Survey, Green DMV provides educational materials to help businesses in the District implement sustainable solutions to reduce their carbon footprint and save on energy costs.
