Our mission is to promote the economic advancement of low-income communities by creating a national culture of environmental values. We work to accomplish this mission by promoting green jobs in low-income communities as a pathway out of poverty.

Our Vision

Our goal is to deliver sustainability information and services directly to low income communities. We aim to make sustainability a symbol of environmental stewardship and economic security for low-income residents. Local main street businesses in these communities that boldly adopt sustainability programs will expose and inspire their customers to think “Green” and support green jobs.

Green job training opportunities will provide employment opportunities to the people in these communities that need the work most. These jobs will be proudly viewed as their contribution to the planet. The increased revenue generated from green jobs will stimulate economic growth and create community assets for both the National Capitol Region and the Planet.

Our Approach

Our strategy is to transform the traditional consumption-based culture prevalent in communities across to the country to a more conservation-based model through pivotal partnerships with federal, state and local government agencies, policy makers, nonprofit advocates of green jobs, green job training programs, and sustainable community developers.

Green DMV works to leverage these partnerships to infuse sustainability in low-income communities by demonstrating the viability of greening businesses to spur economic stability, reflecting health and social benefits of sustainability and providing the expertise to ensure success. By making "Going Green" a part of community culture and exposing the distressed communities to new career opportunities, we open the door for better lives for us all.
